  • an adviser, administrator, or support person records information about you on our systems
  • we receive your information through an event registration, partner introduction, or third-party form or scheduling tool

If we collect personal information about you indirectly, we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of the matters required by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including the fact of collection, the purpose of collection, intended recipients, our identity, and your rights of access and correction, unless an exception under the Act applies.

We may share personal information with:

  • our staff, contractors, and advisers who need the information to support FHBC services

  • advisers or partner providers where that is part of a service, referral, booking, or support pathway you have requested or would reasonably expect
  • professional advisers such as legal, compliance, or technology advisers
  • government agencies, regulators, law enforcement, or courts where required or authorised by law

Current examples of service providers used in connection with FHBC include website and application hosting providers, email delivery providers, scheduling providers, analytics providers, and cloud database providers. These providers may hold or process information on our behalf.

7. Specific website and form flows

Home Readiness Quiz

If you use our Home Readiness Quiz, we collect the answers and contact details you provide to generate your result, personalise follow-up guidance, and, where relevant, create or update your FHBC member record and portal access. We may also use that information to contact you about your result, booking opportunities, and related FHBC services.

Contact forms

If you contact us through our website, we collect the information you submit so we can respond to your enquiry and keep a record of the communication.

Account registration and member portal

If you create an account, we collect the information required to set up and manage your membership, authenticate you, and provide access to member tools, checklists, and account preferences.

Adviser bookings

If you book a consultation, booking information may be collected and processed through our scheduling provider so your appointment can be arranged and confirmed.

8. Cookies, analytics, and website tracking

We may use cookies, similar technologies, and analytics tools to understand how people use our website, improve performance, measure engagement, and support marketing or conversion reporting.

This information may include IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referral source, and interactions with website features. Some of this data may be collected by third-party analytics or advertising providers acting for us.

9. Storage, security, and overseas processing

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, or alteration. These steps include access controls, authenticated systems, managed service providers, and platform security features.

Some of our service providers may store or process personal information outside New Zealand. Where this occurs, we expect those providers to protect information appropriately and to handle it in line with applicable legal requirements.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purposes for which it was collected, for related operational or compliance purposes, or as otherwise required by law.

11. Your rights

You may request access to personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to correct it if you think it is wrong or incomplete.

To make an access or correction request, contact us at dustin@thefirsthomebuyersclub.co.nz. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

12. If you provide information about someone else

If you give us personal information about another person, you should only do so where you are authorised or it is otherwise appropriate in the circumstances. Where required by law, FHBC may contact that person to let them know we have collected their information and explain how it will be used.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the latest version on this page and update the “Last updated” date when changes are made.
